The restaurant had a soft opening earlier this summer (see earlier Daily Voice story HERE), but had its official ribbon cutting on Tuesday, Sept. 12.

Diners can expect lots of a la carte BBQ options that empower them to create their own combinations of mains and side dishes – a personalized platter! – along with traditional entrees.

Among the options: Wood-Kissed (Smoked) Chicken Wings, Pork Belly Banh Mini’s and Nola BBQ Shrimp, along with Bobby Q’s classic BBQ Nachos, Frizzled Onions and Deep-Fried Pickles. There are also new flatbreads highlighting the best of the south from Charleston, Austin and New Orleans.

Salads, classic sandwiches, and traditional meat offerings -- think beef brisket, pulled pork and beef burnt ends – are also on the menu along with chicken,  St. Louis ribs, and Texas pork sausage.

The kitchen, led by Executive Chef and General Manager Ole Knudsen, follows the “pit to plate” mentality, serving Bobby Q’s classic smoked meat recipes and methods the same day they are cooked. The delivery of fresh fruit and produce daily allows for an all-new cocktail menu featuring beverages created using freshly-squeezed fruit juices and muddled fruit.

The new 4,300 square foot location features high ceilings, white-washed wood paneling and a soundtrack of upbeat New Orleans-influenced Funk and Blues music. Elements from the old Westport location have been woven into this reimagined brighter space, including corrugated metal at the bar and string lighting in the main dining room.

Lunch and dinner are being served seven days a week with happy hour, and weekend brunch launching soon. There will also be a live music series and some tailgate specials headed into football season.

Said Owner LeRose: "As we settle into our new neighborhood, we’re excited to be a member of this vibrant, growing community in South Norwalk.”

The restaurant is at 11 Merwin St., 203-831-0354, www.bobbyqsrestaurant.com.
