STRATFORD, Conn. — Dozens lined up outside Jump Off Indoor Trampoline Park and Fun Zone in Stratford Friday morning, hopping on an opening day offer for a free hour of bouncing fun.
Owner Alex Patel and his team welcomed the group of parents and eager children to celebrate an official ribbon-cutting at the Garfield Avenue site.
Patel and his business partner used to operate Silver Spoon Delivery, making restaurant deliveries from Stamford to Hamden. But a trip to see a trampoline park in Hartford made them switch career gears.
“We had a great time — and we saw kids having a great time,” Patel said. “Delivery was worse than this. This is easy and fun!”
Located not far from Exit 30 on Interstate 95, Jump Off is housed in a cavernous 28,000-square-foot facility. The site includes more than 95 interconnected trampolines, as well as three basketball dunking lanes, dodgeball courts, two high-performance mats, a battle beam and a big air bag.
The site also features a slack rope, a widget ladder, an arcade and Connecticut’s largest three-level indoor playground with bazooka cannons.
There is a toddler area to keep little ones both happy and safe, Patel said.
The first 300 guests on Friday received an hour of free bouncing time, while the first 100 got an additional card for five hours of arcade time.
Participants must sign a waiver, which is valid for a full year, and don special grip socks in the trampoline areas to avoid slipping, Patel said.
Last Saturday, Patel welcomed a group of 20 special needs guests to the park. He hopes to make these hour-long 9 a.m. sessions a weekly feature at Jump Off.
In addition, Patel will be adding a fitness program in coming weeks.
Jump Off, which had a soft opening earlier this month, employs 35 people and Patel said he is looking to hire another 25 for the summer months. Applicants must be 16 or older.
Jump Off is located at 280 Garfield Avenue. It is currently open from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m Monday through Thursday, from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Friday and Saturday and from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Sunday. Summer hours will likely be longer.
