STRATFORD, Conn. — He may be a chiropractor, but Mark Konopka sees his patients as much more than a series of sore necks and backs.

Konopka looks at the whole person, working with patients to improve their lives through nutrition, exercise and conservative care that seeks to solve problems before they happen.

“I’m very thorough in my evaluation. There’s a lot I can do,” he said Tuesday. “The way a patient should be managed is least invasive to most invasive, not the other way around.”

Town dignitaries joined Konopka at an official grand opening Tuesday of his On Point Chiropractic, Sports Medicine & Integrated Wellness, an inviting clinic in an office complex at 88 Ryders Lane.

Mayor John Harkins, Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Mary Dean and Karen Kaiser, the town’s director of economic development, were all on hand to help with the ribbon-cutting for the business, which has been serving customers since September.

Located just off the Merritt Parkway, On Point specializes in affordable, individually tailored musculoskeletal care seen through a holistic lens, said Konopka, a Shelton native. Treatments offered include chiropractic adjustments, a variety of myofascial release techniques, nutritional counseling, supplemental recommendations, electric muscular stimulation, heat therapy, Kinesio Taping, exercise therapy and more.

Konopka sees patients with a variety of issues, including neck pain, low back pain, sports injuries, shoulder pain, sciatica, headaches, digestive issues, wrist pain and foot pain.

Having participated in sports his entire life, Konopka said he understands the need of conservative care in the treatment of musculoskeletal disorders. He has developed corporate health and wellness programs and also offers corporate discounts and programs.

Konopka trained in the area, graduating from Quinnipiac University with a bachelor’s degree in health sciences. He continued his post-graduate studies at the University of Bridgeport College of Chiropractic.
