STRATFORD, Conn. – The town of Stratford has combined business strength with smart growth to foster a wave of expansion in the area, utilizing its location between New York City and Boston, wrote Karen Kaiser in a Westfair Communications column.
Many companies, ranging from FedEx to local stalwart Two Roads Brewing Company, have expanded their work force, shrinking the town's unemployment rate 4 percentage points since 2012, Kaiser wrote.
The town also has worked with the state's Department of Economic and Community Development to clean up and demolish dangerous buildings and restore brownfields as well, Kaiser wrote.
Kaiser is the director of economic development for the town of Stratford. You can read her full Westfair Communications column here.
