Whet Your Appetite, Stamford: Walter's Hot Dogs Announces Grand Opening

STAMFORD, Conn. -- Walter's Hot Dogs, long beloved (and coveted) in Westchester -- its been there 98 years! -- is opening its first out of state location in Stamford 's Harbor Point Thursday, Oct. 12.

The hot dogs (and other menu items) have, over the years, gained a national and ardent following. In 2001, Walter's was voted the number one hot dog in America by Gourmet Magazine. The Mamaroneck stand has, over the years, been featured on many "best" lists, including two years in a row by Daily Voice readers.

It was also ranked among the "75 Best Hot Dogs in the U.S." by The Daily Meal.

Hours are 11 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. Sunday to Thursday; 11 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. on Friday and Saturday. Delivery is available through UberEats.

The new spot, in the space by the fountain in Commons Park, will have order and pick up windows just as it does in Mamaroneck, N.Y.

The menu will be the same -- think hotdogs split down the middle and grilled to golden brown perfection. Customers can also expect curly fries, waffle fries, fried potato puffs, homemade hand-scooped ice cream, milkshakes, Italian ices and funnel cake fries dusted with powdered sugar.
