The celebration will be held at 5 p.m. Thursday at the South Pine Creek Recreation Center, 210 Old Dam Road.

All are welcome to join First Selectman Mike Tetreau and the Parks & Recreation Department in congratulating the town’s newest champions.

The 10-year-old division the town’s Pop Warner Giants Football League finished 21-12 over the Kansas City Titans last month.

The members of the Fairfield Giants 10U team boarded a bus headed to Worcester, Mass., on the day after Thanksgiving to face off against the Lee’s Summit Titans of Kansas City, Mo., in the Division III Pop Warner National Championship game.

The victory capped the teams perfect 12-0 season, which began Aug. 1 in the midsummer's heat at Sullivan Field.

"This is quite an accomplishment for a special group of young men,” said Coach Mark Cirilli. “It goes to show you what commitment, hard work and discipline can accomplish when you are bound together with one mind, one heart and as one team.”
