Diocese Of Bridgeport Celebrates As It Ordains Three New Priests

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. — Nearly 700 family, friends and priests celebrated Saturday as three new priests were ordained into the priesthood in the Diocese of Bridgeport.

The ordination was celebrated in a Mass at St. Augustine Cathedral in Bridgeport with Bishop Frank Caggiano.

Thew new priests are the Revs. Harry Prieto, José Vasquez, and Timothy Iannacone.

All three priests celebrated their First Masses on Sunday: Vasquez Romero at Assumption Parish in Westport; Iannacone at St. Mary’s in Norwalk; and Prieto at St. Joseph in Danbury.

Iannacone, 27, was born in Stamford and grew up in Norwalk. He attended Wolfpit Elementary School and All Saints Catholic School. He graduated from Norwalk High School in 2008 and from Merrimack College in 2012.

Prieto, 30, was born in Bogotá, Colombia. He went to the Seminario Mayor de Bogotá and then earned a bachelor of science degree from the Universidad Javeriana in that city in 2009. He completed a Bachelor of Arts degree from Fordham University, then entered the Theological College of the Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C.

Vásquez Romero, 33, was also born in Bogotá He entered the Seminario Mayor de Bogotá, and earned a bachelor’s degree from the Universidad Javeriana in 2010. He entered St. John Fisher Seminary and studied at Sacred Heart University in Fairfield. Vásquez graduated from St. Joseph’s Seminary in Yonkers, N.Y., this year.
