FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. — Here are some of the top stories of the past week from across Fairfield County as reported by Daily Voice — in case you missed it.

Train moving faster than usual plus fresh snow from Stella resulted in a more spectacular arrival than expected in Rhinebeck, N.Y.

A massive 10-vehicle chain-reaction pileup began as drivers swerved to try to avoid a light pole that had been knocked onto the travel lanes of I-95 in Fairfield in a previous crash overnight Tuesday, state police said. One man, who had to be extricated from his car by firefighters, was seriously injured when his vehicle became wedged under a tractor-trailer as part of the crash.

A whopper of a snowstorm was forecast to hit Fairfield County on Tuesday and drop 2 feet of snow. Highway travel was banned, Metro-North shut down the trains and schools closed. But the snowfall came up short, ranging from a low of just 7 inches in Norwalk and 10 inches in Monroe, to a high of 16 inches in Monroe and 20 inches in New Fairfield.

During the storm, the staff at the Harborview Market kept dishing up meals. And Joe Doceti, owner of Hat City Construction in New Fairfield, kept busy with plowing jobs.

After the cleanup, the folks at Stew Leonard's built Mt. Stew after plowing the parking lot at the world's largest dairy store and invited the public to come sled. And a viral video showed an Amtrak train blasting New York commuters with snow.

Donut Crazy, the taste sensation born in Stratford and Shelton, opened its newest location at the Westport Train Station, selling coffee, breakfast sandwiches and, of courses, its signature giant donuts in a crazy selection of flavors.

Three days after he went missing, the body of Kenneth Woodd-Cahusac, 61, was found near a private dock in the frigid waters of the Mianus River near his Greenwich home, police said. Police retraced their steps and searched spots again in an effort to find the autistic man.

A woman who jumped to her death from an overpass onto I-95 in Stamford was identified as 27-year-old Abbey Meany of Stamford.

There will soon be some new places in Stratford to enjoy a good meal. The owners of the Lazy Dog Tavern this spring will open The Crabby Dog Tavern in the former home of Mare Bello just across from the seawall in the Lordship section of town. Meanwhile, the revived Cricket Car Hop will open for business this spring at a new location at 900 Access Road.

Police said they found a loaded gun, cocaine and a baseball bat in a car driven by José Diaz, 29, of Bridgeport, after he nearly hit several cars in clear view of officers in Fairfield.

A Danbury firefighter rescued a Shih Tzu from a burning home as flames ran up the side of the structure. 

The NTSB cited an “aerodynamic stall” and “total loss of engine power” as the probable causes of an airplane crash that killed two college students from Ridgefield in September 2015 in upstate New York. Cathryn 'Carey' Depuy, the pilot, and Ryan Adams, the only passenger, were freshmen at Colgate University.
