BRIDGEPORT, Conn. — A Stratford man denied he was the shooter but was held on $1.25 million bond anyway after his arraignment Tuesday on a murder charge, according to the Connecticut Post.
Andre Pettway, 27, of Bridgeport, was shot to death on Garibaldi Avenue in Stratford on Saturday evening, police said.
Pettway had just gotten out of prison for possession of narcotics with intent to sell, the Post said.
Brandyn Ford, 24, was arrested Tuesday morning. Ford — who his lawyer says works with special-needs children — told police he was driving in the area when a group of people opened fire on his car, the Post said. He denied shooting back, the Post said.
He was charged with murder, possession of a weapon in a motor vehicle, risk of injury to children, first-degree reckless endangerment, unlawful discharge of a firearm and carrying a pistol without a permit.
