STRATFORD, Conn. -- As America remembers the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor on Dec. 7, 1941, local author Steven Otfinoski will talk about his new book "Day of Infamy" at the Stratford Library on its 74th anniversary.

The 7 p.m. program, in conjunction with Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day, is free and will be in the Lovell Room of the library, 2203 Main St.

Otfinoski, who teaches composition and creative writing at Fairfield University and the University of Bridgeport, has published more than 175 books for young adults in both fiction and non-fiction, library officials said. Three of his books have been named Books for the Teen Age by the New York Public Library.

Many of his books focus on history. He also writes plays and has a theater company that brings one-person plays about American history to schools.

"Day of Infamy," from which he will be reading from during the library program, takes the reader through the events of Dec. 7, 1941, at Pearl Harbor through the eyes of people who remember it. They include a woman reporter, the leader of the Japanese attack and President Franklin Delano Roosevelt.

A book signing will follow during this special "Meet the Author" event. For details, call (203) 385-4162 or visit the library's website .
