Rake & Shovel is a program designed to assist those in need and foster friendship and respect between generations. Teams of volunteers will rake leave and remove snow at no cost for anyone over 65 years of age, or disabled who does not have any help available. Teams will be made up of families or people 14 years or older.

Teams will rake and bag leaves from pathways, flower beds and any lawn that can be completed in two hours or less. Raking will take place on six scheduled days:

  • Wednesday, Oct. 25 from 4 to 6 p.m.
  • Saturday, Nov. 4 from 3 to 5 p.m.
  • Thursday, Nov. 9 from 4 to 6 p.m.
  • Saturday, Nov. 18 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.
  • Saturday, Dec. 2 from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.
  • Sunday, Dec. 3 from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.

If you are interested, email volunteer@sterlinghousecc.org and let them know your availability on scheduled days.

Shoveling will take place the day after a snowfall, and teams will clear sidewalks and driveways to allow a car to the street.
