STRATFORD, Conn. -- Stratford EMS has acquired a new ambulance.
The new ambulance was acquired due to steadily increasing requests each year. The Stratford EMS is expected to answer approximately 7,000 calls by the close of 2015.
The new ambulance, designated “804," cost $103,000, but was funded entirely through the EMS Enterprise Fund and will cost tax-payers nothing.
"804" will be SEMS’s seventh ambulance, and the first new van-style ambulance since 2010.
After careful consideration, the EMS vehicle Selection Committee choose a 2016 Type II Sprinter (Van) style ambulance manufactured by American Emergency Vehicles (AEV) of Jefferson North Carolina. The cost of a Type III (Box Style Ambulance) is more than double at approximately $220,000.
The new ambulance is expected to be placed in service in mid-January. Check out the many photos at the Stratford EMS page on Facebook .
