STRATFORD, Conn. -- The Stratford Health Department has earned national accreditation through the Public Health Accreditation Board, only the third local health department in the state to do so, according to the Stratford Star.
To receive accreditation, a health department must undergo a rigorous review to ensure it meets or exceeds the required quality standards, the Star said. Mayor John Harkins congratulated the department's director Andrea Boissevain and her staff for the honor, said the Stratford Star.
Stratford's Health Department offers a range of services to promote healthy behaviors, in addition to preventing diseases, monitoring food and water safety, offering immunizations, and preparing for and responding to public health emergencies, added the Stratford Star.
