STRATFORD, Conn. -- Residents, both for and against, a proposed exit and entrance ramp at exit 33 off I-95, packed a meeting held by the state Department of Transportation to discuss the project on Thursday, June 16, in Stratford, according to the Stratford Star.

Some of the 150 residents who attended the meeting, said the project was too expensive at a cost of $29.5 million, while others said it would take business away from the businesses at the Milford exit, said the Stratford Star.

Others, including Mayor John Harkins, said the exit would help the Route 1 area prosper and boost business. DOT officials said they would take the comments into consideration as they move forward with the plan whose final design is expected to be completed in June 2017, with construction slated for the spring of 2018, added the Stratford Star.
