Woman Killed As Car Crashes Head On With SUV On Merritt Parkway

A 57-year-old woman was killed late Saturday night in a head-on crash involving a car and an SUV on the Merritt Parkway.

The crash occurred around 11:30 p.m. near Exit 67 in Meriden when 21-year-old David Perez of Bridgeport, was traveling southbound in a 2005 Honda Civic near the Miller Avenue DOT exit when he drove off the left side of the roadway, and struck a curb.

The car then became airborne, launched over the metal-beam guardrail median, and into the northbound flow of traffic, where it hit a  2013 Chevrolet Equinox head on, causing both vehicles to be disabled in the travel lane.

Sally Mosher of Littleton, New Hampshire was pronounced dead at the scene. She was a passenger in the Equinox driven by her husband, 48-year-old Scott Mosher, also of Littleton, New Hampshire.

Scott Mosher and two other passengers, 47-year-old Dax Macafee and 45-year-old Candy Macafee of Campton, New Hampshire, suffered injuries and were transported to Hartford Hospital. 

Mosher was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash, while the three others aboard the car were, state police said. 

Perez , who was extricated from the Civic, also was injured and was transported to Hartford Hospital.

The crash remains under investigation.
