One women was arrested after about a dozen women got into an early morning melee at Andros Diner in Fairfield, upending tables, throwing things and punching a waitress in the face last weekend, police said. No one was sure what started the ruckus among the women, who hail from Norwalk to New Haven, as witnesses gave many conflicting statements.

Some Metro-North commuters are the worst. They take up entire seats. They block the aisle while everyone takes selfies. And when that commuter is the Stanley Cup, it's to be expected. The NHL championship trophy hopped on a train in Grand Central Terminal and rode up to Stamford for an appearance on NBC Sports for the start of the NHL playoffs.

Several unsolved murders in Fairfield County are included in a new edition of "cold case" playing cards that are available to inmates throughout the Connecticut correctional system:

  • Four of Spades: Hakeem "Sonny" Joseph, 32. On March 25, 2015, Joseph was shot while working at the T-Market, 1482 Reservoir Ave. in Bridgeport.
  • Queen of Hearts: Mary Aaron aka Mary Frattallone 19. Aaron was last seen on July 2, 1981. Her skeletal remains were found on the Norwalk/New Canaan town line on Aug. 1, 1981.
  • Jack of Clubs: Karl "K-Dot" Savage, 30. On Feb. 3, 2010, Savage was found shot multiple times on the grounds of Nathaniel Ely School in Norwalk.
  • King of Clubs: Michael "Mizzy" Robinson, 21. On Oct. 29, 2010, Robinson was shot on South Main Street and Grove Street in Norwalk.
  • Two of Diamonds: Thounsa "Little T" Addison, 17. On Jan. 24, 2005, Addison was shot in a vehicle on Cross Street in Norwalk.
  • Three of Diamonds: Iroquois "Iraq" Alston, 27, and Rackita Smalls, 22. On Aug. 6, 2011, they were shot in a vehicle at 4 Avenue B in Norwalk. 
  • Nine of Diamonds: Joseph "Jabs" Bateman, 30. On Feb. 3, 2012, Bateman was shot behind the Avalon Gates Apartments in Norwalk.
  • Ten of Spades: Matthew Margolies, 13. On Aug. 31, 1984, he was found murdered in a wooded area on Pemberwick Road in Greenwich. 

It's been hailed as having one of the greatest chicken parm sandwiches in the state by USA Today. It's also been highlighted by Zagat for its "well-prepared, enormously comforting" fare where you need to be prepared for "legendary lines." But now may be the time to try Stamford's Cafe Silvium yourself.

A Stratford woman is inching closer to her dream of opening an independent bookstore in town, thanks to crowdsourcing and a pop-up shop she’ll open at the end of the month. Nikkya Hargrove said she she’s always wanted to connect with her community through the love of reading.

Westport Police arrested Jeffrey Chirillo, 36, the head of Chirillo Contracting, for the third time this year after a resident complained that they had hired Chirillo but he did not do any work. 

An undisclosed developer will renovate and reopen the historic Majestic Theater, create a 200-room hotel at the former Poli Theater and build two high-rise apartment complexes across the street — to the tune of more than $100 million, Bridgeport Mayor Joe Ganim announced. 

A Trumbull police officer interrupted an assault outside the Westfield Trumbull Mall as a 22-year-old woman violently attacked her ex-boyfriend and threatened to kill him with a knife, police said. Hayley Nicole Welcome of New Haven was arrested on charges of carrying a dangerous weapon, third-degree assault, second-degree threatening and breach of peace. 

The state plans to spend $6 million to replace the aging signs along the historic Merritt Parkway from Greenwich to Stratford.
