Funeral Services Set For Bridgeport Man Shot To Death In Stratford

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. — Funeral services are scheduled for the 27-year-old Bridgeport man who was shot death in Stratford last week.

Services will be held Saturday for Andre Pettway of Bridgeport. He was shot to death over the Memorial Day weekend.

Services for Andre Pettway will be held Saturday, June 3, at Mount Aery Baptist Church, 73 Frank St., Bridgeport 

Family and friends may attend the viewing at the church at 9 a.m until the service begins. A celebration of his life will be at 11 a.m with Pastor Anthony L. Bennett officiating. Interment will follow in Mountain Grove Cemetery. 

Pettway was the son of Rolando Pierce and Nancy Pettway. He is also survived by his daughter, Aniyah Pettway. For more information or to leave a memorial message, visit www.LesterGeeFH.com

He was on the Bassick High School varsity basketball team from 2006 through 2008, winning the Fairfield County Interscholastic Athletic Conference championship in 2007, according to the Connecticut Post.

He recently got out of prison after serving a four-year term for possession of narcotics with intent to sell and violating a prior probation, the Post said.

Pettway was gunned down last Saturday at about 6:50 p.m. at 54 Garibaldi Ave., Stratford, police said. He was transported to Bridgeport Hospital, where he died, police said.

Brandyn Ford, 24, of Stratford, was arrested Monday at his home and charged with murder in the shooting death, police said. He appeared in court Tuesday and denied he was the shooter, but Ford was held on $1.25 million bond in the case.
