LaPorta was born on Jan. 25, 1930 to Joseph and Pasqualina LaPorta, graduating from the Fairfield College Preparatory School and the University of Bridgeport.
He was predeceased by his parents, grandparents, wife Agnes, longtime friend Thaddaeus Krok.
LaPorta is survived by daughter Ann Marie Lalli and her husband John, son Stanley and his wife Cathie, son Frank and his wife Maria, son Thomas, son Mark and his wife Sasha, son Steven and his wife Cynthia, son John and his wife Kelly, son Alex, cousin Michael Agriesta, nurse Svetlana Best, many grandchildren and great-grandchildren and many other relatives and friends.
Visiting hours will take place on Tuesday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. in the Commerce Hill Funeral Home, 4798 Main St., Bridgeport.
A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Tuesday morning at 11am in Christ the King Parish, Trumbull.
Interment will follow at St. Michael Cemetery in Stratford.
