Marion 'Crystal' Wallach, Formerly Of Startford

RYE, N.Y. -- Marion “Crystal” Wallach (nee Koelsch), formerly of Rye, passed away June 14 after fighting a brave and courageous battle with cancer.

She was a loving a wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was truly one of a kind, and brought sparkle to everything in her life.

Wallach had resided in Rye, as well as Westport, Stratford and Southbury, Conn., in addition to Pennsylvania and Texas.

She was born in Scranton, Pa., the daughter of Catherine and Rudolph Koelsch. Upon graduating from high school, she moved to Manhattan to pursue her aspirations of becoming a model. While in New York City, she was swept off her feet by Edward Wallach. They were happily married for 60 years. He adored her, she was the love of his life.

She is survived by her husband, Edward Wallach' siblings, Robert Koelsch, Jeanne Koelsch and Helen Nielsen; four children, 11 grandchildren and three great-grand- children: A son, Cary Wallach, his wife, Mindy Wallach and his children Elizabeth, Max and Elinor; a daughter, Kathy and her husband Ed and their children Ashley, Hailey, and Colin, her great-grandchildren, Halston, Tipton and Harlan; a daughter, Aimee Smith-Wallach and her wife, Natalia Smith-Wallach and their children Otto and Suzanne; and a daughter, Roree Vosburgh and her husband Phillip Vosburgh and their children, Paisley, Teal, Lawson.

Wallach always was driven by an entrepreneurial spirit and was loved and adored by all who met her. Crystal had very fond memories of her time publishing Carousel magazine and working with the Westport Playhouse. She had a great sense of style — she was the essence of glamour, elegance and fashion. She always carried herself as a lady, exemplifying grace, bravery and dignity.
