Sports Journalist From Quinnipiac ID'd As Victim Of Fatal Florida Crash

SADDLE BROOK, N.J. — Michael John Radomski formerly of Saddle Brook has been identified as the victim of a fatal Florida car crash on Oct. 12. He was 29 years old.

Michael, of Wildwood, Fla., was raised in Saddle Brook and was a parishioner of St. Leo’s Church in Elmwood Park. He graduated from Bergen Catholic High School, Class of 2006. 

While a student there, he began his love of broadcasting and journalism as part of the BCTV morning show and as editor-in-chief for the school newspaper, “The Herald."

He continued his education at Quinnipiac University in Hamden, Conn. He earned his Bachelors of Arts Degree in Journalism in 2010.

Upon graduation, Michael began his broadcasting career in Indiana. During his five years with the Otters, Michael was a broadcaster, an account executive and served as media relations director. He was the longest tenured radio broadcaster in Otters franchise history, calling over 550 games.

In 2014, he became the director of media relations for the University of Evansville Purple Aces, where he oversaw media aspects for women’s basketball, baseball, and men’s and women’s soccer. It was at UE where Michael met the love of his life, Christina.They were married in Minnesota in June 2016.

Michael moved to Tampa, Fla., in 2015 to work at the University of South Florida. Initially he was responsible for the athletic communications involving baseball, volleyball, and sailing for the USF Bulls. In January 2016, he was promoted to assistant director of communications and oversaw the media aspects for men’s basketball, football, cross country, and track and field.

He is survived by his wife, Christina Mae (nee Schmidgall); parents, John and Alicia Radomski (nee Ralicki); brother, Brian; grandparents, cousins aunts and uncles

Visitation will be on Thursday, Oct. 19, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 9 p.m., at Kugler Community Home For Funerals.

The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Leo's Roman Catholic Church in Elmwood Park on Friday, at 10 a.m. Interment will follow immediately in St. Mary's Cemetery in Saddle Brook.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the "Michael John Radomski Memorial Scholarship Fund" to be established in honor of Michael.
