2 Bridgeport Men Charged In Late-Night Deli Robbery In Stratford

STRATfORD, Conn. — Two men from Bridgeport were tracked down and arrested after a late-night burglary at a deli in Stratford, and a third suspect was being sought, Stratford police said.

The burglary occurred at about 2:35 a.m. Sunday at the Pickel Barrel Deli located at 1889 Main St. in Stratford, police said. Three suspects broke in and stole a cash register worth $900 and a $130 case, police said. They fled the area in a gray van, police said.

Officers reviewed surveillance camera footage and notified surrounding towns, police said. The pair was taken into custody after a brief attempt to flee from Fairfield and Bridgeport officers who had located the vehicle, Stratford police said.

Paul Thompson, 21, and Josue Rivera-Suarez, 26, both from Bridgeport, were and charged with third-degree burglary, fourth-degree larceny and possession of burglary tools. Each was held on $20,000 bond and scheduled to appear in Bridgeport Superior Court on Sept. 11.
