The Monroe Police Department took a complaint from an individual who found a firearm in the garage of the home. Through an investigation, officers determined that the undocumented weapon had been recently fired in a residential area on Elm Street by Marcus Bonaparte.

Bonaparte is restricted from owning or possessing firearms, due to previous convictions and because he has a protective order against him, police said.

Bonaparte was charged with criminal possession of a pistol/revolver, criminal use of a firearm or electronic defense weapon, first-degree reckless endangerment and criminal violation of a protective order.

He was held on $5,000 bond and arraigned at Bridgeport Superior Court.
