Bartender Shot During Armed Robbery At BAR In Stratford Center

original story: STRATFORD, Conn. — A bartender was shot in the abdomen during an armed robbery at BAR in Stratford Center on Tuesday evening, police said.

The armed robbery occurred shortly before 7 p.m. Tuesday, when an unknown male entered the bar, approached the bartender and demanded money, Stratford police Capt. Frank Eannotti said in a statement. 

The bartender handed over cash and was then shot once in the abdomen by the robber, Eannotti said. 

The unknown suspect fled the scene on foot, and officers were attempting to locate him Tuesday evening, he said. No description was available of the suspect.

The victim was transported to Bridgeport Hospital, where he was undergoing surgery, Eannotti said.

Officers and Investigators were still processing the crime scene and speaking to witnesses, he said. Stratford Center was closed down late Tuesday due to the ongoing police activity in the area, police said. 

BAR is located at 2399 Main St. in Stratford Center, near I-95 and the train station.
