The parkway was closed for about eight hours after the accident occurred at 1:30 a.m. Sunday, the Post said.

The two-car crash occurred on the southbound side of the Merritt between Exits 53 and 52, sending both cars into the guard rails, the Post said.

A 2013 Infiniti JX35 sport-utility vehicle flipped over the guardrail and rolled down an embankment, ejecting its three occupants, the Connecticut Post said.

Jordan Soares, 27, of Bridgeport, who was a passenger in the SUV, was killed, the Post said.

The three people thrown from the car that rolled over, as well as two passengers in the other car, a 2015 Mercedes-Benz C300, were taken to the hospital, the Post said.

The driver and passenger who were ejected from the SUV sustained serious injuries, the Connecticut Post said.

The crash remains under investigation.
