Michael Karolkowski was charged with arson, reckless endangerment, breach of peace and interfering with an officer and held on $250,000 bond, police told the Post.

Echo Hose Hook & Ladder Co. 1 doused the fire in the basement of a home at 45-47 New St. at about 3 p.m. Sunday, according to a Facebook post. Engine 2 stretched a line and quickly had the fire under control. No injuries were reported.

A neighbor told police that a man approached his house and said he had just set the neighboring house on fire, the Connecticut Post said.

Police found Karolkowski on Howe Avenue and arrested him, the Post said.
