Danbury Sex Offender Pleads Guilty To Reentering U.S. After Being Deported

Rodolfo Bolivar Tepan, 38, pleaded guilty Wednesday in federal court to one count of reentry by a removed alien, according to John H. Durham, United States Attorney for the District of Connecticut.

According to court documents, in February 2016 Tepan was sentenced in Danbury Superior Court to 10 years in prison, execution suspended, and five years of probation for risk of injury to a minor. In October of 2016 he was deported from the U.S. to Ecuador.

Durham said that Tepan illegally reentered the U.S. and was arrested on May 12, 2017 by Danbury Police for failure to register as a sex offender. He was convicted of the offense and was sentenced on July 28 to 18 months in prison. He has been detained since his arrest.

The illegal reentry charge carries a maximum term of 10 years in prison. Tepan is scheduled to be sentenced on Feb. 26.
