David Newman, 42, of 91 Gina Circle was arrested after he attacked his roommate on Tuesday, said Stratford Police Capt. Frank Eannotti.

According to Eannotti, the incident occurred around 9:30 a.m. at the residence while the two were arguing and Newman stabbed the rommate with a knife several times in the arm and shoulder. It is unknown what prompted the attack.

The roommate was able to fend off the attack at which time Newman returned to his bedroom and waited for officers to arrive. He surrendered without incident, Eannotti said.

Newman was charged with criminal attempt at murder and assault. He is currently being held on $1 million bond.

He is scheduled to appear in court on Wednesday.
