Fairfield Police: Fairfield Woman Hid From Police After Early Morning Crash

FAIRFIELD, Conn. — Officers investigating a serious single-car crash early Saturday morning searched for 45 minutes before they found the driver hiding near Fairfield Woods Library, police said.

Neighbors reported a 2016 GMC Terrain hit a Burrows Road utility pole around 2:45 a.m., police said. The heavily damaged car was lying on its side near the broken pole.

Police found the driver, a 26-year-old Fairfield woman, hiding near the library 45 minutes after they arrived. She did not appear to be injured, but she was taken to St. Vincent’s Medical Center for evaluation due to the nature of the crash, police said.

No charges have been filed. The investigation is ongoing.
