Fairfield Police: Someone Swiped $300 Bound For Africa

FAIRFIELD, Conn. — Someone stole $300 a man was trying to send to his father in Africa while he filled out the paperwork at a Fairfield Western Union, police said.

Shortly before 5 p.m. June 23, the man began filling out the form to wire money at the customer service desk at Stop & Shop on Kings Highway Cutoff. He said a woman behind him asked him to move down the counter.

When he moved back, the Bank of America envelope was gone, police said.
