The most recent reported incident involving an unlocked vehicle occurred early Sunday morning in Fairfield County.

At approximately 1:35 a.m., a resident on Taunton Lane reported finding people going through unlocked cars parked in their driveway, Newtown Police said.

The resident confronted the suspects, who then ran out of the driveway and got into a large SUV-type vehicle with a very loud exhaust, police said.

No further description could be given on the vehicle or suspects, police added. Police are investigating.

This follows an incident last week in Newtown in which two vehicles were stolen from the garage of a residence on Butternut Ridge, also in the early morning hours.

The vehicles were unlocked and keys were in the vehicles.

Other such incidents have also been reported the last several weeks in most towns in Fairfield County.
