Stratford firefighters believe the fire may have been set by a person, although it was not clear whether it was an accident or on purpose, the Star said.

Vagrants had been known to illegally occupy the building, which is located near the Department of Public Works building and the Raymark ballfields, the Stratford Star said.

One person was taken to St. Vincent’s Medical Center for smoke inhalation, the report said.
