Pedestrian Hit, Killed By Vehicle In Greenwich

GREENWICH, Conn. — A pedestrian was hit by a vehicle and killed on West Putnam Avenue in Greenwich near the New York border Monday evening, Greenwich police said.  

The pedestrian was hit on West Putnam Avenue/Route near Western Jr. Highway, which is near the New York border.

West Putnam Avenue was closed at Western Jr. Highway for the investigation into the fatal accident, which occurred at about 6:30 p.m. Monday, Lt. Kraig Gray said.

"The operator of the vehicle remained at the scene and has been cooperating with the investigation," Gray said.

The Greenwich Police Department's accident reconstruction team is conducting the investigation, he said. More information will be released as it becomes available, Gray said.

The accident occurred in the vicinity of Western Middle School and the New York State border.
