STRATFORD, Conn. — Stratford police released two surveillance photos of the suspect who shot a bartender Tuesday night during an armed robbery.
The photos show the suspect pointing a handgun with his left hand. The suspect is in mostly dark clothing, with what appears to be a gray sweatshirt or jacket, with the hood over his head, and much of his face covered. The photos were released just before noon Wednesday.
The bartender who was shot was in stable condition Wednesday morning as the investigation continued, police said.
The shooting occurred in BAR, which is located on Main Street in Stratford Center, shortly before 7 p.m. Tuesday, police Capt. Frank Eannotti said in a statement.
An unknown male entered the bar, approached the bartender and demanded money, Eannotti said.
The bartender handed over cash and was then shot once in the abdomen by the robber, he said.
The suspect fled the scene on foot, and officers searched the area without success, Eannotti said.
No detailed description of the suspect was available.
The bartender was taken to Bridgeport Hospital, where he was underwent surgery, Eannotti said.
The area near BAR in Stratford Center was closed down late Tuesday due to the police activity in the busy area. BAR is located at 2399 Main St., near I-95 and the train station.
