Jeffrey Chirillo, 36, of Milford was arrested Thursday on charges of first-degree larceny and offering to make home improvement without registration, police said. He was held on $75,000 for a March 7 court date.

The case began in early October, when the victim signed a proposal with Chirillo of Chirillo Contracting, for remodeling work, police said. The victim has paid Chirillo a total of $32,579 in cash and checks since Oct. 8, police said.

As of mid-January, Chirillo had not started any work at the victim’s residence nor has he provided any of the material the victim has paid him for, police said.

Based on the police investigation, a warrant was submitted to Norwalk Court for Chirillo’s arrest. On Thursday, Westport officers went to the Milford Police Department and took him into custody.

Chirillo was transported to Westport Police Headquarters, where he was processed.
