STAMFORD, Conn. -- A Stamford man faces charges in connection with the theft of jewelry and other valuables belonging to a family in Westover that befriended him, police told the Stamford Advocate.
Maximilian Campbell-Owoniya, 21, was charged with second-degree larceny, according to the Stamford Advocate. He had been staying in the home of the family for several months when family members noticed that jewelry was missing from a safe, according to the Stamford Advocate.
Police told the Stamford Advocate that an investigation revealed that Campbell-Owoniya had sold the items, which were worth $18,000, for a bit more than $1,000.
