At 1:19 a.m. Saturday, Trooper Educardo Santiago spotted the car on I-95 north near Exit 32 in Stratford, where it was “failing to maintain its lane," state police said.
Santiago turned on his cruiser’s emergency lights and siren and went after the vehicle, state police said.
“The vehicle engaged me in pursuit, continuing on I-95 northbound,” the state police said. “The vehicle reached reckless speeds of up to 120 mph in a posted 55 mph zone, in the area of Exit 41 [in Orange] and also made multiple lane changes at a high rate of speed.”
State police ended the pursuit near Exit 42 in West Haven.
Troopers located the car later on I-91 near Exit 5 in New Haven. Troopers followed the car to the suspect's home on Chapel Street in New Haven, where he was apprehended.
Orlando Rolon-Hernandez, 30, smelled of alcohol and failed field sobriety tests, state police said.
Rolon-Hernandez was arrested and charged with operating without insurance, operating a motor vehicle under suspension, reckless driving of over 85 mph, engaging in pursuit, operating under the influence, failure to drive in a proper lane and reckless endangerment.
He was held on $20,000 bond for a Bridgeport Superior Court appearance on Sept. 5.
