On Friday, April 14, police were dispatched to Danbury Road on a report of an older Chevy pickup truck that was traveling north after having stolen a 40-foot ladder from a residence, police said.
An officer stopped the truck, which was driven by 60-year-old William Cates of Stratford, and determined that he had in fact stolen the ladder, according to police.
Cates was charged with fifth-degree larceny and given a court date of April 25 with a $2,500 bond.
