Stratford Man Faces Gun Charges After Shooting Himself While Dancing

STRATFORD, Conn. -- A 32-year-old Stratford man is facing gun charges after police said he accidentally shot himself in the leg while dancing at a weekend party in Stratford, according to the Connecticut Post.

Kiel Helenese, of Poplar Street, was charged with possession of a loaded gun while under the influence of alcohol, reckless endangerment and unlawful discharge of a weapon, the Connecticut Post reported. He was treated and released from Bridgeport Hospital, and released from police custody on $1,000 bond, the Connecticut Post says.

Officers responded to a call for help Sunday night on Quail Street, and found him holding a bloody rag to his right leg, the Connecticut Post reported. Police told the Connecticut Post that he smelled of alcohol.
