Stratford Man Made False Report Hoping Police Shoot Him, Cops Say

STRATFORD, Conn. -- A 25-year-old Stratford man is facing charges for filing a false police report after police said he reported a robbery from his home in an effort to get responding officers to shoot him to death, according to the Connecticut Post.

The man was taken to Bridgeport Hospital following his arrest in the Sunday evening incident. He' wa charged with interfering with police, misusing the 911 system and falsely reporting an incident, the Connecticut Post said.

Police told the Connecticut Post that they got a call about a robbery at a 7-Eleven store on Main Street, but when they discovered there was no incident at the store, traced the call to the man's cell phone in a nearby house. When officers found the man, he told police that he wanted police to shoot him to death, the Connecticut Post reported.
