The Stratford Fire Department will go up against the Stratford Ladies Brakettes. The event will feature a full nine-inning game as well as a home run derby.

Carrafiello died suddenly last Dec. 26 at the age of 38. He is survived by his wife, Jessica, and their two teenage kids, Caitlyn and Brian.

Pre-sale tickets are $10 and are available at Stratford Fire Department Headquarters 2750 Main St. Tickets will also available at the gate on game night.

Stratford firefighters got the 911 call early the day after Christmas, saying that Carrafiello needed emergency medical assistance.

It should have been his shift, but he had been out of work for December after having surgery to repair a torn Achilles tendon.

Firefighter Gerald Casey worked with Carrafiello for 12 years, sharing the same shift with his friend.

"Whatever he said was just funny. We picked on each other all the time," Casey said of the good times he remembers with his friend.
