Police investigators in Fairfield are seeking the public’s assistance as they search for a suspect spotted speeding away from a local Stop & Shop who may have been involved in a strong armed robbery on Easter Sunday.

The Town of Fairfield Police Department released a surveillance photo of a vehicle - possibly a 2000-2004 Nissan Maxima, according to investigators - that was involved in a purse snatching incident that took place at approximately 3:15 p.m. in the parking lot of the grocery store on Villa Avenue on April 1.

Police described the suspect as a white male in his mid-20s with a beard, reddish-brown hair. He allegedly approached two women in the parking lot and yanked the purse off of one of them after a brief struggle before taking off.

Anyone who recognizes the vehicle or has any additional information regarding the purse snatching has been asked to contact investigators at the Fairfield Police Department Detective Bureau by calling (203) 254-4840 or texting “FPD” plus the tip to CRIMES.
