The case began at 5 a.m. Sunday when a resident called Trumbull police to report that two males were checking and trying to enter parked cars on Jerusalem Road.

When an officer arrived, the resident directed him to where he saw the suspects run, police said. The resident and the officer then found one 17-year-old suspect hiding in a nearby driveway, the other suspect was not located, police said.

Officers determined that both subjects had arrived in a vehicle that had been stolen from Stratford and left nearby, police said.

Several additional car keys were found, and further investigation linked one of those keys to another stolen vehicle, police said.

The juvenile was charged with criminal trespass, larceny and conspiracy to commit larceny and was referred to Juvenile Court. His name was not released because he is underage.

Trumbull detectives are continuing to investigate to identify the second suspect and possibly identify other vehicles involved, police said.
