STRATFORD, Conn. -- Democratic Town Committee Chairperson and Stratford Zoning Commission member Stephanie Philips is running for mayor of Stratford, according to the Connecticut Post.

She previously served on the Town Council for three terms, the report said.

Her campaign hit on topics such as putting a lid on taxes, lowering spending and helping the town's economy grow, Philips told the Connecticut Post.

She avidly supports public school education, said the Connecticut Post.

Last month, Democrat Len Petruccelli said he would explore seeking a Stratford political office, as mayor or the Town Council for a District 9 seat, according to the Connecticut Post.

Another potential contender is Democrat Joe Paul, who vied in 2013 for mayor, said the Connecticut Post.

Philips is from Hempstead, N.Y. She has an information technology business, according to the Connecticut Post.
