Barksdale said she intended to re-introduce herself to voters and share how her experience in the public and private sectors, advocacy for children, and years of volunteering and leadership in Stratford, have given her the background to be the community’s “voice in Hartford.”
Barksdale said she intends to tackle issues in Connecticut such as “major budget problems and high taxes and a loss of jobs” that hurting middle class families.
Stratford’s current state legislators – Sen. Kevin Kelly (R-21), Rep. Laura Hoydick (R-120), and Rep. Ben McGorty (R-122) -- attended the endorsement and pledged their support for Barksdale.
“Susan is an excellent candidate with exceptional qualifications who understands the district’s challenges and will be a forceful voice for Stratford in the House,” said Hoydick, the deputy House minority leader, sentiments that were echoed by Kelly.
