The special election is to fill the seats left by Mark Dumas and Joe Gresko. The council made the decision to use a different date to make it easier for voters who would have had to vote in two different rooms on two different ballots if held on the same day as the general election on Nov. 8, said the Stratford Star.

Two Democrats have announced their intentions to run for the vacancies, including Greg Cann, who plans to seek the 5th District seat, and Zoning Commission member Scott Farrington-Posner, who said he is running for the District 2 opening, added the Stratford Star.
