Gov. Dannel Malloy signed the legislation into law in July.
“Maximizing our reimbursement rate helps local taxpayers and provides students with a upgraded learning environment,” said Rep. Backer, D-121. "This much-needed project will assure Stratford continues to provide the best possible education to our children.”
Provisions of the bill expand Stratford High School’s current construction project description to include site acquisition costs of up to $700,000; change the project from an extension and alteration to a renovation, which triggers a higher state reimbursement level; and waives the square-foot-per-pupil space standard, allowing Stratford to be eligible for further funds.
The project cost at Stratford High School is $104.3 million. The revised state grant will now reimburse 60.36 percent of that cost.
