Remains Of Harvey Could Bring Rain To Stratford Over Labor Day Weekend

FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. -- After dumping several feet of water onto Texas and Louisiana over the past week, Hurricane Harvey will transition to a tropical rainstorm by the end of the week and roll across the Ohio Valley, potentially bringing rain to Connecticut over Labor Day weekend, according to AccuWeather.com.

Harvey could blend with a non-tropical storm from Saturday into Sunday, which may cause rainfall to become more spread out as it reaches the Northeast. A general 1-2 inches of rain could hit the east coast from Pennsylvania and New Jersey up to Maine. If Harvey merges with a non-tropical storm fast enough, localized rainfall of 2-4 inches could fall from eastern New York state to Maine, according to AccuWeather.

The rain is expected to only hit the area beginning late Saturday and should depart the area on Sunday night. Friday will be mostly sunny and cool, with a high of 68. Saturday will see cloudy and sunny spells, with passing showers in the afternoon. Saturday night will see periods of rain. Sunday will see some rain, with a high of 72.

Labor Day is expected to be partly sunny with a high near 78.

While Harvey is not expected to bring widespread flooding, or flooding anywhere close to what has been seen in Texas, there is a possibility that rain could bring urban and isolated flash flooding this weekend.
