Snow Heads Our Way, But Stratford May Escape Worst Of Storm

FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. — While heavy snow is expected across southeast Connecticut on Saturday afternoon, Fairfield County should escape the worst of the storm.

Still, there is a Winter Weather Advisory in effect through 1 a.m. Sunday for Fairfield County and much of the metro New York area.  

Fairfield County will see snow accumulations of 3 to 7 inches, with the highest amounts in the southeastern part of the county along Long Island Sound.       

A more serious Winter Storm Warning is in effect for New Haven County and New London County, where more snow is expected. The Boston area, Rhode Island, and Cape Cod could see up to 10 to 18 inches of snow. 

In Fairfield County, a light snow will develop late Saturday morning, continue moderately through the late morning and early afternoon and taper off in the early evening across Fairfield County.   

Temperatures will be chilly, with a high in the mid-20s and winds of 10 to 20 mph gusting up to 25 mph.  

The storm could cause difficult driving conditions with visibility of a half-mile at times and snow-covered roads.

Overnight lows will drop into the low teens under cloudy skies. Wind chill values will be zero to 5 degrees. 

Scattered snow showers will continue Sunday after 10 a.m. It will be partly sunny, with a high near 23 degrees but wind chills of zero to 10. 

Monday will be mostly sunny, with a high near 26. A meltdown will begin Tuesday with a high near 39, and rain is in the forecast for Wednesday.
