STRATFORD, Conn. -- Relay For Life of Stratford will hold its first annual Luminaria Bash on Thursday, March 3.
Attendees can purchase and decorate a luminaria bag for $5, in honor or in memory of someone. Anyone who wants a luminaria to be placed around the track at the Relay For Life event, set for June 18-19, at Bunnell High School, is encouraged to attend.
Participants may bring a picture to glue onto the bag, but there is no guarantee it will be returned. There also will be a team available to help participants decorate the bags.
The Relay For Life program is a community-based event where teams and individuals set up campsites at a school, park or fairground and take turns walking or running around a track or path. Each team has at least one participant on the track at all times. Cancer survivors and caregivers take a celebratory first lap to start each event.
Last year, 248 people participated in Stratford and raised more than $55,000 -- all to support the American Cancer Society’s mission to finish the fight against cancer once and for all.
