Richard Brown bought the instant ticket while out for ice cream. He made the purchase while the family was in a different part of the store.

After scanning his “30x Cash” ticket through the Ticket Checker, Brown said he waited a second to count the zeros, according to Lottery officials.

“The clerk asked me, ‘$20,000?’ I said, ‘Nope, half of that’ and walked out."

“I put (the ticket) in the glove box, the kids got in the car, and we went home.”

He said he's going to use the money for a "magical and unforgettable" family vacation.

For selling the winning ticket  Alltown Stratford #765 will receive a $100 check from the CT Lottery, said officials.
